Rapids Run: Community Missions will hold its third annual 5K race around Goat Island, Niagara Falls. Registration is at 9 a.m. and the race starts at 10:30. Registration costs $15 (U.S.). Each runner will receive a long-sleeved T-shirt. Both registration and the post-race party will be held in the Visitors Center at Niagara Reservation State Park.
Walkathon: In honor of the memory of Dr. Barbara Higgins, the Student Nursing Association at Niagara County Community College will collect pledges to purchase training equipment. Reading is fun: Book sale will be held from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. today and Friday in the lobby of Mount St. Mary's Hospital, 5300 Military Road, Lewiston.
Haunted Corridors: Lewiston Kiwanis Park, off Eighth Street and Oxbow Lane, will be the site of a haunted family-fun attraction from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. today and Saturday, as well as Oct. 30 and 31. Admission is $2.50 per person, with group rates available. It is sponsored by Amazing Productions and the Kiwanis Club.
Sugar & Jazz: Free performance of Big-Band-era music, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the Center Court at Summit Park Mall, Williams Road, Wheatfield.
Bazaar and bake sale: From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Pendleton Center United Methodist Church, Campbell Boulevard at Bear Ridge Road, Pendleton, will feature crafts, toys, plants, books, attic treasures and more. A light lunch will be available. Proceeds will benefit the women's mission projects.
Holiday show and sale: The Barge Canal Art Center's 26th annual show and sale will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Middleport Fire Hall on Main Street in Middleport. Crafts will be sold and lunch will be served by the women of the United Methodist Church.
