Town of Concord voters outside of Springville will vote today on whether they favor a proposed reward program for volunteer firefighters who have reached age 65 and served at least 10 years with either the East Concord or Mortons Corners fire companies.
The proposal would pay $29 a year for each year they served with a cap of 40 years. The $85,000 first year's cost would add 85 cents per $1,000 valuation to the Fire Protection District tax rate. If it fails, the appropriation will be removed, said Supervisor John E. Allan.
The Town Board has set 6:30 p.m. Oct. 27 for a public hearing on the 1998 community block grant application. Funds are sought to improve Springville's Main Street store fronts. At 7 p.m., an information meeting will be held for residents of the long-sought proposed Trevett Road Water District.
