Otto E. Thomasett, 91, a former longtime mayor of Perrysburg, died Thursday (Oct. 16, 1997) in Tri-County Memorial Hospital, Gowanda, after a six-month illness.
Thomasett was the retired plant superintendent of the former J.N. Adams Developmental Center where he worked for 44 years.
He was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers.
Thomasett served 22 years as mayor of Perrysburg starting in the 1950s and was a member of the Perrysburg Fire Department for 50 years.
A 32nd degree Mason who was active in Masonic organizations for 60 years, he was a member of Phoenix Lodge 262, F&AM, Gowanda, and the Scottish Rite Masons, Jamestown.
He also served as treasurer of Perrysburg Cemetery and was a member of the Buffalo Schwaben Verein.
Thomasett is survived by his wife, the former Elsie Stetter; a daughter, Maria White of Collins; two sons, Richard of Binghamton and Otto of Springville; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Main Street and Erie Avenue, Gowanda, following prayers at 10 in the Mentley Funeral Home, 105 E. Main St., Gowanda. Burial will be in Perrysburg Cemetery.
