IRENE C. FALKIEWICZ, RETIRED BUFFALO NEWS EMPLOYEE

A Mass of Christian Burial for Irene C. Falkiewicz, 73, a retired employee of The Buffalo News, was celebrated Thursday in Our Lady of Czestochowa Catholic Church, Cheektowaga.

Miss Falkiewicz, a resident of Cheektowaga, died Monday (Oct. 13, 1997) in Seneca Manor Health Care Facility, West Seneca, after a long illness. She was buried in St. Matthew's Cemetery, West Seneca.

A News employee for 46 years, she retired in 1986 as supervisor of the Mimeograph Department.

Miss Falkiewicz began her career at The News as an elevator operator. She also worked in administration and in the Promotion Department. She was promoted to Mimeograph Department supervisor in 1979.

After her retirement, Miss Falkiewicz organized a series of News retirees' reunions.

She also was president of Group 470 of the Polish Women's Alliance and was an active member of Our Lady of Czestochowa Church.

Miss Falkiewicz is survived by three sisters, Theresa Pyrdol, Geraldine Gorzynski of Orchard Park and Patricia Knox of Cheektowaga.
