A 6-year-old boy was injured at 4:30 p.m. Friday when he was struck by a car on East Union Street near Bewley Parkway, Lt. Edward Ott said.

Neil M. Castleberry of East Union Street suffered multiple, but not serious, injuries when he ran into the street in front of a car driven by Bradley A. Johnson, 17, of Howard Avenue, Ott said. Johnson said he tried to avoid the boy but was unable to stop in time, Officer Paul Zapp said.

The boy was released after treatment at Lockport Memorial Hospital for multiple bruises and abrasions, a hospital official and police said.
