Firefighters had to rescue some residents of two apartment buildings Thursday from a smoky fire.
Fire Captain Tom Haines said crews were called to 814-824 Pennsylvania Avenue East just before 2 a.m.
"We evacuated residents from one apartment by putting ladders from the ground up to the second floor. There was smoke and fire towards the back of the buildings, which are connected," Haines said.
Haines said four tenants were treated at Warren General Hospital for minor burns or smoke inhalation. There were no injuries to firefighters.
Crews spent over six hours dousing the fire. The cause is under investigation.
