Jeannette Burakowski, a real estate agent, died Wednesday (Oct. 15, 1997) in her Lancaster home. She was 74.
The former Jeannette Wierzbicki was a native of Buffalo and lived in Lancaster for 46 years. She graduated magna cum laude from Buffalo State College at the age of 60. At the time of her death, she was associated with the Century 21 Professionals agency in Depew.
She was active in St. Mary's of the Assumption Catholic Church, Lancaster, where she was a Eucharistic minister. In the early 1960s, she was active in the Buffalo Diocesan Family Life Movement and taught family life in several Catholic high schools.
Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Anthony; seven sons, Joseph of Alexander, Thomas of Hamburg, Daniel of San Diego, Paul of Orchard Park, John of Rochester, Michael of Lackawanna and Mark of Lancaster; two daughters, Mary of Laurel, Md., and Alyssa Varanae of Buffalo; three brothers, Stanley, Jerome and Bernard Wier, all of Southern California; and 17 grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Mary's of the Assumption Church, 1 St. Mary's Hill, Lancaster. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Lancaster.
