Chautauqua County Executive Andrew Goodell Thursday outlined a four-point strategy to help the agriculture industry.
The incumbent Republican said farming is a key piece of the county's economic puzzle.
"Our county has the largest number of farms in the state of New York," Goodell said. "Agriculture is probably considered one of the largest single industries in the county."
His proposal calls for keeping property taxes low, helping to increase farm productivity, lobbying for state regulatory reforms and comprehensive planning to preserve agricultural land.
