I am writing in regards to a recent "Current" column by Susan Martin. She cited a quote from fashion designer Isaac Mizrahi, claiming that "we need a variety of ideals" on what is attractive for women. It sounds like he's spouting what has become fashionable to talk about -- that women of all sizes and shapes are beautiful.
I can't help but wonder when we'll start seeing his fashion spreads in style magazines with models exhibiting this "variety of ideals." Designers like Mizrahi could do a lot to promote healthy eating and positive body image for today's young women by putting his money where his mouth is.
