BOSTON BOARD REJECTS BID TO REZONE SITE

The Boston Town Board has unanimously rejected a request to rezone 27.7 acres of land from residential-agricultural, requiring a minimum lot size of three acres, to R2, allowing 15,000-square-foot lots.

Roy Emerling had requested the rezoning for a residential development of smaller single-family homes off Boston State Road.

A petition with 43 names of residents opposing the rezoning was presented to the board. The residents said they wouldn't mind seeing larger homes built on larger lots but objected to smaller, cheaper homes that would add to the town's population and decrease their
property values.

The board noted that the county Highway Department has denied the town's request to lower the speed limit on West Tillen Road from
55 miles per hour.
