TOWN BOARD SETS SESSION TO REVIEW BUDGET

The Newstead Town Board will hold a special meeting at 8 p.m. Monday to review and adopt any changes in the 1998 tentative budget prepared by Supervisor Donald C. Holmes.

A public hearing on the preliminary budget will be held in early November.

The $2,280,513 spending plan is slightly less than this year's.

In other business at this week's meeting, the board discussed the "Akron-Newstead Rails to Trails" project.

The planned bike-path extension would link Akron, Newstead and Clarence to the Conservation Trail.

The 10-foot wide path currently runs along the railroad right of way from the northeast corner of the Village of Akron to Hake Road. Plans are to extend the path to Clarence Hollow.

"We will certainly be discussing some improvements there before the end of the year," Holmes said.
