A task force on solving problems in the bar area of Water Street was named Tuesday night.
The Rev. James Vacco, director of the Newman Center, will head the group, which will make recommendations to the mayor and Village Board. Other members include Police Chief Daniel Johnson; Trustee Michael Sullivan; L. Michael Dimitri, vice president of student affairs and Ann Burns, director of public safety, both at Fredonia State College; Dr. James Coon, superintendent of Fredonia schools, and Charles Mancuso, a village resident and the owners of the bars on Water and Main streets.
Bar owners and village officials met to discuss problems Tuesday night, when they decided to form the task force, Mayor Frank Pagano said Wednesday.
Last month, 12 police cars from three police agencies converged on Water Street for crowd control after the bars had closed.
