CUBAN CITY PAYS HOMAGE TO GUEVARA

Reclaiming Che Guevara as their own, the people of this central Cuban city lined up patiently Wednesday to see the casket containing the legendary guerrilla's remains.

Santa Clara was captured by Guevara on Jan. 1, 1959, in a battle that was decisive for the victory of Fidel Castro's rebel army against then-dictator Fulgencio Batista.

Guevara's remains were unearthed from a secret mass grave in Bolivia, where they had been buried since he was killed 30 years ago, and were returned to Cuba three months ago.
