The Town of Pomfret Planning Board Wednesday agreed to form a committee to study a proposed conservation district for Fredonia's reservoir on Spoden Road.

Acting chairman Mark Joy called for the creation of a committee made up of town and village officials, property owners, the town attorney and representatives of the county Soil and Water Conservation department.

Joy said the issue is very complex and needs to be examined from a variety of angles.

Code enforcement officer Leonard Ensalaco is asking the district be established for the water reservoir and a 1,000-foot area surrounding it. He said this would help maintain a contaminant-free public water supply.
