Midfielder Chris Henderson scored with three minutes left in regulation to lift the Colorado Rapids to a 2-1 victory over the Dallas Burn to reach the Major League Soccer championship game. The Rapids will meet the defending champion D.C. United at MLS Cup '97 at RFK Stadium in Washington, D.C. on Oct 26. United reached the final by blanking the Columbus Crew for the Eastern Conference championship, 1-0.

St. Bonaventure have signed to play a home-and-home college basketball series over the next two years against Pittsburgh of the Big East. The Bonnies will play at Pitt on Dec. 2, and play host to the Panthers next November or December. The series replaces one against Seton Hall which fell through.

NCAA investigators are scheduled to visit the University of Rhode Island to review the college admissions scores of star basketball recruit Lamar Odom. If investigators verify the above-average score after the visit next week, Odom, now a part-time Rhode Island student, could play for the Rams next semester.

Frazier Robinson, a Negro Leagues player who was Satchel Paige's catcher from 1939 to 1942, died Monday, one day after a gymnasium at his church in Kings Mountain, N.C., was named in his honor. He was 87.
