APPEAL DENIED IN BOATING FATALITY

Daniel J. English, who caused two boating deaths on the Niagara River two years ago, resumed his brief jail term Wednesday after the state's high court refused his appeal.

English, 48, of Blasdell, declined to comment as he was taken into custody in Erie County Hall at about 11 a.m. to resume the 30-day jail term State Supreme Court Justice Penny M. Wolfgang imposed on him Dec. 4 after a jury cleared him of prison-related felony charges.

He was given the maximum allowable jail term on the boating charges linked to the deaths of Mark Guizzotti and Alexander Dann off Strawberry Island on July 27, 1995.
