REP. HINCHEY WON'T RUN AGAINST PATAKI IN 1998

U.S. Rep. Maurice Hinchey on Tuesday joined the ranks of prominent Democrats who will not challenge Republican Gov. Pataki in 1998.

Instead, Hinchey said he would seek re-election to his seat in Congress from the 26th District, which stretches from the Hudson Valley in the east to the Finger Lakes in the west.
