Services for Rajshie Tompkins, 23, an ex-football player for South Park High School, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in First Calvary Baptist Church, 467 William St. Burial will be in Forest Lawn.

Tompkins, 23, known to friends and family as "Rocky," died Thursday (Oct. 9, 1997) in Erie County Medical Center of head injuries he suffered in an assault outside a downtown nightclub. David A. Williams, 30, of Northumberland Avenue has been charged with second-degree murder.

Tompkins played with South Park for the 1992 Harvard Cup championship and was on the school's basketball team. He had worked during the summer in the YMCA youth program.

Surviving are a son, Jailyn Lamar; his mother, Florita McCoy; his father, Floyd E.; his stepmother, Birdene Tompkins; and his grandparents, Clara McCoy and John and Mary McPartlend.[crlalln]
