Simon Sly scored his second goal of the game in the first minute of overtime Tuesday to give Niagara a 2-1 nonconference soccer victory over Robert Morris in Coraopolis, Pa.
Sly has five goals in the last four games for the Purple Eagles (4-8-2). Guillermo Rodriguez made five saves.
GOLF: St. Bonaventure placed fifth out of 13 schools at the Robert Morris Fall Invitational at Mountour Heights Country Club in Moon Township, Pa. Bona junior Chris Blocher tied for sixth place among individuals with a 36-hole total of 9-over 153. Bona's Dan Hennessey tied for eighth at 154 and Rich Bolender (Tonawanda) was 35th at 165.
WOMEN'S SOCCER: Molly Bagley, a freshman from Mt. St. Mary's, scored in the first half and Erin Daley added a second-half goal as Niagara blanked Robert Morris, 2-0. Jackie Conik recorded three saves for the shutout as Niagara improved to 4-7-2.
WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL: Buffalo State defeated Daemen in five games, winning the decisive game, 15-10. Erin Garvey (Clarence) had 11 kills and 17 blocks for the Lady Bengals (15-11) while Christy Singleton produced 45 assists and 19 digs.
WOMEN'S TENNIS: Buffalo State finished its season 2-5 after a 7-2 loss to RIT.
CROSS COUNTRY: Buffalo State will host the SUNYAC men's and women's championships Saturday at Beaver Island State Park on Grand Island. The women's race over a 5,000-meter course will start at noon and the men's race over 8,000 meters will start an hour later.
Top runners for Buffalo State are Frank Bogdan (West Seneca East), who was 12th last year, and Heather Miles and Shannon Bugenhagen (Clarence), who were 14th and 15th, respectively.
