Local law enforcement officials seek the community's assistance this week in tracking down three young suspects wanted for the theft of jewelry last month from a downtown store.

The three were described as one black man in his late teens or early 20s, thin build, slight facial hair and wearing a plaid shirt with tan pants; a black woman in her early 20s, of medium build, wearing a black top and black slacks; and another black female, a teen-ager with her hair in a ponytail, wearing a dark sweater with horizontal stripes.

Police said the three entered a jewelry store in Main Place Mall about 4:30 p.m. on Sept. 19 and stole several gold chains of an undisclosed value.

Authorities have a photo of the three entering the store and the two females blocking the vision of the store employees while the man reaches over the counter and grabs several chains from a display case.

On the tape, the man fled the store and the two female accomplices left when they heard that the police were called.
