Vera L. Penque, 78, of Townline Road, who was a cook at the former North Junior High School in Niagara Falls, died Sunday (Oct. 12, 1997) in Mount St. Mary's Hospital, Lewiston, after a long illness.

The former Vera Scrivano was born in Niagara Falls and worked at North Junior High for more than 15 years, retiring in 1973. She also volunteered and worked at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church and School for many years.

Mrs. Penque moved to Sanborn in 1986. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Ransomville and Niagara Falls Senior Citizens.

Her husband, Louis J. Sr., died in 1982.

Survivors include two sons, Frank of Niagara Falls and Louis J. Jr.; two sisters, Josephine Boccanera and Carmela Destino, both of Niagara Falls; a brother, Michael of Niagara Falls; 12 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Thursday in Immaculate Conception Church, 4671 Townline Road, Ransomville, after prayers at 9:15 in Rhoney Funeral Home, 5893 Hoover Road. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Niagara Falls.
