Pupils at R.R. Rogers Elementary School are getting an extra break today on their Columbus Day holiday weekend.
Crews spent the weekend moving furniture back into the building, and teachers will be in today to get their classrooms organized.
Most of the Rogers pupils started classes at the former St. James School building because of an emergency reroofing job at the Hebner Street facility.
With the new roof complete now, head custodian Sam Brucculeri said, "we have been shampooing the carpets and doing a lot of cleanup from the construction project. But the building is in good shape now to open."
Students will be back in their own building on Wednesday for classes.
