GCC STUDENTS RANK HIGH IN STUDY

A new State University of New York study has revealed that members of the Genesee Community College's class of 1995 ranked seventh in academic persistence among the state's 30 community colleges.

Acting Vice President of Academic Affairs Larene Hoelcle told the board of trustees Monday the results mean that "GCC graduates are more likely to succeed academically at baccalaureate colleges than graduates of most other community colleges."

The study tracked the progress of the 252 members of the class of '95 who transferred to other SUNY institutions, among them the University at Buffalo and Buffalo, Geneseo, Fredonia and Brockport State colleges.

Dr. Hoelcle attributed the success in part to the small class sizes and personal attention given GCC students.
