Clear Mandate wore down Feasibility Study in the final strides to win the $542,500 Three Chimneys Spinster Stakes at Keeneland and earn a trip to the Breeders' Cup. Ridden by Pat Day, the 5-year-old daughter of Deputy Minister ran the 1 1/8 miles in 1:50 2/5 on the fast track. Clear Mandate, which earned $336,350, probably will start next in the $1 million Breeders' Cup Distaff on Nov. 8 at Hollywood Park.
The victory increased her career earnings to $1,085,588 and improved her lifetime record to 30-10-6-4. The winner paid $6.20, $3 and $2.80. Feasibility Study, the 19-10 favorite ridden by Mike Smith, returned $3.20 and $3, while Naskra Colors paid $3.80 to show.
