Parker Bohn III, the Professional Bowlers Association's money leader with $192,095, averaged 233.2 pinfalls Sunday to take the second-round lead in the Ebonite Challenge.
Bohn, of Jackson, N.J., who won consecutive tournaments earlier this year, started the second round of qualifying with back-to-back 258 games en route to a 12-game total of 2,798.
Tim Criss of Bel Air, Md., was second at 2,789, followed by Jason Couch of Clermont, Fla., at 2,783, Walter Ray Williams Jr. of Stockton, Calif., at 2,735 and Rick Steelsmith of Wichita, Kan., at 2,696. Buffalo's Tom Baker was 18th with 2,585.
The field will be cut to the top 24 for match play after today's final six games of qualifying. The stepladder final is Wednesday.
