Lula Mae Matthews, 63, of Ashland Avenue, a retired nursing home employee, died Thursday (Oct. 9, 1997) in Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center after a lengthy illness.
The former Lula Brundidge was born in Greenville, Ala., and moved to Niagara Falls in 1956.
She worked for the Deveaux Nursing Home for 26 years, retiring in 1992.
Mrs. Matthews was a member of St. John AME Church, where she served on the Pastor's Aide Board and Usher Board. She also had been a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Rebekah Chapter 270 since 1974.
Survivors include her husband, Willie C.; a son, Cleve of Garland, Texas; a daughter, Debra; a stepdaughter, Geraldine Crittenden of Greenville; three sisters, Mary Cook of Columbus, Ohio, Lucille Savage of Andalusia, Ala., and Annie Crittenden of Greenville; and eight grandchildren.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in St. John AME Church, 917 Garden Ave. Burial will be in Acacia Park Cemetery, Pendleton.[nfschr]
