Countess Diana furthered her claim to the 2-year-old filly championship at Keeneland with a 2 3/4 -length victory Saturday in the $430,000 Walmac International Alcibiades Stakes.

Jockey Shane Sellers sent Countess Diana to the front at the start of the 1 1/1 6-mile race and the daughter of Deerhound came home in 1:45 1/5 for her fourth victory in five career starts. She earned $266,600.

Long shot Lily O'Gold rallied from fourth-place early in the race to finish second, a head in front of previously undefeated Beautiful Pleasure.

Countess Diana added the Alcibiades to victories in the Grade I Spinaway and Grade II Schuylerville Stakes in her last two starts at Saratoga.

Second choice in the wagering, Countess Diana paid $5.40, $3.80 and $2.10. Lily O'Gold returned $14.20 and $2.10. Beautiful Pleasure paid $2.10 to show.

Benchmark wins Goodwood

ARCADIA, Calif. -- Benchmark rallied in the stretch to edge Score Quick by 1 3/4 lengths in the $248,700 Goodwood Breeders' Cup Handicap at Santa Anita's Oak Tree meeting.

Ridden by Eddie Delahoussaye, Benchmark covered 1 1/8 miles in 1:47 3/5 . Score Quick finished a head up on Hesabull.

Trainer Ron Ellis said Benchmark, a 6-year-old son of Alydar, would race next in the Breeders' Cup Classic on Nov. 8 at Hollywood Park.

The victory, worth $158,700, increased Benchmark's career earnings to $569,647, with seven victories in 14 starts.
