WOMAN SLASHED ON TRAIN MAY BE GANG-RITES VICTIM

A homeless woman was slashed on the subway Friday in another possible gang attack, police said.

Two young men and a young woman slashed the face of Violet Dowling, 66, at about 2:30 a.m., said Officer Dennis Laffin.

A spate of recent razor and box-cutter attacks have been attributed to the Bloods, a street gang that requires recruits to slash someone as an initiation rite.
