PROGRAM THAT OFFERS HOME-HEATING AID IS RESUMED

The Greater Buffalo Chapter of the American Red Cross is administering Niagara Mohawk Power Corp.'s Care and Share Energy Fund, an energy assistance program that has resumed with the onset of the heating season.

Established by Niagara Mohawk in 1984, the fund has provided more than $5 million in emergency assistance to people at least 60 years old or who receive disability benefits or have a medical emergency and are faced with an energy-related problem, such as a utility shut-off notice, lack of fuel or a broken heating appliance or furnace. Applicants may call the Red Cross at 878-2356. Assistance can be used for all types of fuel, including wood.
