A Box Avenue man was indicted on attempted murder and weapons charges Friday for shooting at a neighborhood handyman he assumed had burglarized his house.

Aaron Reynolds, 47, of 255 Box Ave., was ordered to remain jailed in lieu of $7,500 bail after he pleaded innocent before State Supreme Court Justice Ronald H. Tills.

Prosecutor Paul S. Piotrowski said Reynolds shot Davis, 40, in the center of his throat after angrily confronting him in the driveway of Reynolds' home about 1 p.m. Sept. 7.

Davis, a handyman who lives on French Street, had been painting a house across the street from Reynold's and was using a ladder the indicted suspect mistakenly thought was the same one used earlier that day by the burglar who stole his television, VCR and stereo, Piotrowski said.
