LOW-INTEREST FARM LOANS AVAILABLE

Freezing conditions in May and a July hailstorm have resulted in a federal disaster declaration for Western New York that will allow farmers to be considered for low-interest emergency loans.

Rep. John J. LaFalce, D-Town of Tonawanda, announced that Erie, Niagara, Orleans and Genesee counties have received the disaster declaration from U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Dan Glickman.

The U.S. Farm Service Agency will issue the loans to qualified farmers, taking into account the extent of losses the farmers suffered and their financial situation. Farmers should contact the closest Farm Service Agency for more information.
