DEPEW MAN CHARGED WITH LEWDNESS

Cheektowaga police charged a 25-year-old Depew man with public lewdness Friday afternoon after he exposed himself to three young girls waiting at a school bus stop, police said.

Three Maryvale students, two 12 years old and one 13, were standing on the corner of Union Road and Fath Drive waiting for a school bus shortly before 8 a.m. Friday when a gray van parked across the street, according to Lt. Cheryl Rucinski.

The driver went to the back of the van where he started taking off his clothes and then made lewd gestures to the three girls, Lt. Rucinski said.

The students told the bus driver after they got on the bus. The bus driver got a partial license plate number and notified the police.

The police tracked down Daniel Thomas at his Rowley Road home Friday and charged him with public lewdness, Lt. Rucinski said. Police have ruled out any connection between this incident and last week's reports of an attempted child abduction on Campbell Road in the northwest section of Cheektowaga.
