GARDEN CLUB NOTES

The Youngstown Garden Club will celebrate its 40th anniversary with a standard flower show, "Memories," from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Youngstown Fire Hall, Elliott and Third streets.

The Niagara Frontier Orchid Society will meet at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Bassett Manor Adult Residence, 245 Bassett Road, Amherst.

The Kenmore Garden Club will meet at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Kenmore Methodist Church on Landers Road for a Chinese auction of gardening items. John Percy, Kenmore-Town of Tonawanda historian, will recount the history of the village and town.

The East Aurora Federated Garden Club will meet at noon Tuesday at St. Matthias Episcopal Church. Beverly Walsh, National Council judge, will present a program on "Petite Creations."

The Lake Shore Garden Club will meet at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday at the Lake Shore Library for a topiary tree workshop conducted by Cheryl Grewicz of Flowers by Nature.

The Clarence Garden Club will meet at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Clarence Town Park Clubhouse, 10405 Main St. to welcome the new Junior Garden Club and their families. Sally Cunningham of the Cooperative Extension Service will speak on composting and beneficial insects.

The Ken-Sheriton Garden Club will meet at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at 576 Delaware Road, Kenmore. Bob Gurley of Menne Nursery will give a lecture and slide presentation on "Growing Under Lights."

The Western New York Rose Society will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday at St. Stephens-Bethlehem United Church of Christ, 750 Wehrle Drive, Williamsville. Jakob Jung, caretaker of the Erie Basin Marina rose garden, will speak on "Winterizing the Rose Garden."

The Buffalo Bonsai Society will meet at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Menne's Nursery, 3100 Niagara Falls Blvd., Amherst, for an auction of bonsai-related items.

District 8 Federated Garden Clubs will hold its annual fall meeting at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at Salvatore's Italian Gardens. The afternoon program, "Florals and Frocks," featuring wedding gowns and floral arrangements, will be presented by the Eighth District Judges Council.
