DELI OWNER ACCUSED OF INSURANCE FRAUD IN FIRE

The owner of a delicatessen on Buffalo's East Side is among two dozen people across the state who have been charged with insurance fraud during August and September, state Insurance Superintendent Neil D. Levin announced Thursday.

Saleh Odefa, 35, of 1392 Kensington Ave. was arrested Aug. 25 and charged with third-degree arson and second-degree insurance fraud. Authorities said Odefa set fire to his shop and filed an insurance claim for more than $135,000. If convicted, Odefa faces up to 30 years in prison.
