WOMAN RESCUED IN FIERY CRASH

A woman was rescued after her car crashed into the fuel tank of a truck on Nash Road at 1:08 p.m. Wednesday, triggering a fuel spill and fire that destroyed the tractor.

Sheriff's Deputy Paul J. Moran said Theresa A. Siuta, 70, of 3362 Lockport Road was taken to Erie County Medical Center after two men pulled her from her car. She was listed in serious condition Wednesday night.

Nash Road was shut between Lockport and Errick roads until 6:30 p.m.

Moran said Ms. Siuta's car was northbound on Nash about a quarter of a mile south of Lockport Road when the driver of the truck, Ronald A. Decker, 33, of 28 Downing St., Buffalo, noticed her car drifting into his lane.

Moran said the reason for the car crossing the center line could not immediately be determined.

Decker told police the rig was nearly stopped when Ms. Siuta's car slammed into it. Two nearby residents opened a jammed door and pulled Mrs. Siuta out, probably saving her life, Moran said.

The rescuers were identified as Frank Marmion, 69, of 6363 Nash Road, and Greg Swarts, 39, of 6375 Nash Road.
