WHY DO RADIO STATIONS IGNORE THE OLDER CROWD?

A recent report from Buffalo News critic Anthony Violanti reveals that a change of ownership involving five radio stations in the Buffalo market is in the works.

I wonder: Is it possible that CBS Radio will do some needed homework and come up with even one music format for mature listeners?

It's incredible that radio kingpins -- whose lifeblood depends on audience ratings and the corresponding advertising support they generate -- repeatedly tune out music targeted to people who are 55-plus. Most of us are upbeat and financially secure. We also comprise the fastest-growing part of the population in Western New York, across the country and around the world.
