City parking tickets are about to get a little less burdensome, under a program that will allow motorists to pay the fines at some 200 neighborhood locations.

Drivers will be able to pay fines at pharmacies, check-cashing centers and grocery stores, according to published reports today.

A dozen payment locations are to open next Tuesday, with expansion to 200 locations planned in the next six months.

Currently, fine payers must trek to one of five crowded "help" centers around the city or trust their payment to the mail, which can mean a delay of several days before the driver's record is cleared.
