MARY POLNIAK, 107, HOUSEKEEPER, HOTEL WORKER

Mary Polniak, a former housekeeper and hotel worker, died Wednesday (Oct. 8, 1997) in Mount St. Mary's Hospital, Lewiston, at the age of 107.

The former Mary Kwiatkowski, of Mount St. Mary's Nursing Home, was born in what is now Poland and moved to Niagara Falls in 1913.

Mrs. Polniak, a former resident of 19th Street, was a housekeeper for many years for families on the East Side of Niagara Falls. She also worked as a chambermaid at downtown hotels for many years.

Her husband, Joseph, died in 1982.

Surviving are a daughter, Helen Kantanista; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Friday in Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 1419 Falls St. Prayers preceding the Mass will be said beginning at 9 in Labuda Funeral Home, 356 Portage Road. Burial will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Lewiston.
