Ernest H. Preeg, chairman of the International Business Program at the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington, D.C., will talk about "Global Trade and Economy: It's a World of Business" at the Buffalo Council on World Affairs' annual Citation Banquet at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 16 at the Hyatt Regency Buffalo. Preeg, the former U.S. ambassador to Haiti and chief economist for the U.S. Agency for International Development, will discuss how globalization has bolstered the U.S. economy since the 1980s and the impact of free trade. The group also will honor Roberta Dayer, the founder and retired executive director of the Western New York International Trade Council, and Sal H. Alfiero, the chairman and chief executive officer of Mark IV Industries Inc., for their efforts to promote international trade and the Niagara Frontier.
