James A.W. McLeod has been appointed an Erie County Family Court hearing examiner to deal with child-support issues.
McLeod, second deputy county attorney for the past two years and head of the county Law Department's Family Court Division since 1991, began work this week in the child-support sector conducting pretrial hearings and dealing with support disputes, officials said.
A native of Utica and a 1974 graduate of the University at Buffalo Law School, McLeod, 48, was selected by State Supreme Court Justice Vincent E. Doyle, administrative judge of the state's Eighth Judicial District, and state court official in Manhattan.
McLeod will fill a vacancy created by the recent retirement of longtime Family Court hearing examiner Herbert H. Blumberg. He joins four other hearing examiners on the court staff.
