GOING UP IN A JIFFY

Workers for Advanced Building Systems Co. Tuesday maneuver a 52,000-pound concrete wall panel into position, part of the new Jiffy-Tite Co. Inc. headquarters at 4437 Walden Ave. in Lancaster. The building is the first manufacturing facility in Western New York to be constructed using the concrete tilt-up manufacturing system, developed by Dayton, Ohio-based Con/Steel, which can shave weeks off the time needed for the standard precast concrete/structural steel construction method. Jiffy-Tite, which makes fluid couplers used for hoses in car radiators and injection molding machines, plans to move its 66 employees from Clarence to the new plant in December and hire about 16 more workers.
