PLAN WOULD LOWER SARDINIA TAXES

Tax rates will drop in Sardinia if the Town Board approves an $807,493 spending plan for 1998 proposed by Supervisor John Schiener.

Properties valued at $75,000 would pay $281, $7 less than the overall 1997 rate, the budget shows. A public hearing will be set Wednesday.

Schiener's budget lists these major 1998 appropriations: general, $422,657; highway funds, $348,786; and fire protection, $118,285. Additionally, four lighting district have combined appropriations of $18,755.
