John Olds, a longtime employee of the Carbide/Graphite Group, died Saturday (Oct. 4, 1997) in Mount St. Mary's Hospital, Lewiston, after an illness of nine months.
Olds, 60, of Welch Avenue, was born in Linden, Ala., and moved to Niagara Falls in 1965.
He worked as an operator for Carbide/Graphite for the past 30 years.
Survivors include his wife, the former Viola Maxwell; two sons, Ronald of Elkton, Ohio, and Frederick; six daughters, Linda Collins of Birmingham, Ala., Joeann Maxwell-Wilder of Hopkins, S.C., Jackie Hopkins of Butler, Ala., Johnnie Burnette of Winchester, Tenn., Mary Maxwell and Lucinda Maxwell; three sisters, Bernice Richardson of Gallon, Ala., Beatrice Jones of Wilcox, Ala., and Adele Alden of Linden; and 12 grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in St. Mark Open Door Baptist Church, 2901 Highland Ave. Burial will be in Acacia Park Cemetery, Pendleton.
