A gunman opened fire today at a paging company on the city's northeast side, killing two people and wounding a third before killing himself.
One woman was taken to Brooke Army Medical Center, suffering a gunshot wound to the head, said Craig Martin, a hospital spokesman. The woman was found outside the building housing Proto Call, a paging and answering service.
Police and emergency medical technicians entered the building at midmorning to remove the bodies of three victims, including the gunman, dead of a self-inflicted wound, said Capt. Frank Xiques, a supervisor in the city's communications division.
Officials said the man was angry at his girlfriend. It was not immediately clear if she was among the wounded.
The first call came from one of the wounded, a woman, Xiques said.
"She indicated that somebody had walked in and shot three people. She indicated that she was shot," he said. "Very calmly, she gave the address and any information we needed."
