Clayton E. Shirley, 69, died Monday (Oct. 6, 1997) in Wyoming County Community Hospital after a lengthy illness.
Born in Pavilion, he worked there for the B.R. DeWitt Corp. for 19 years, then worked for Avlin Agway in Avon until he retired in 1991.
Shirley was with the U.S. Air Force from 1951 to 1955 and served in Korea. He was a member of Post 5009 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and for many years served on its color guard.
He also was a Perry Fire Department exempt fireman and a member of Lodge 560, Loyal Order of Moose, and St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Perry.
Survivors include his wife, the former Betsy Maxson; a brother, Ronald of Le Roy; a sister, Marion T. of Le Roy; and a grandson.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the Eaton-Watson Funeral Home, 59 Lake St.
