CITY GETS $400,000 FOR KENMORE AVE. REPAVING

County Legislator Lynn Marinelli, D-Town of Tonawanda, today celebrated reaching one of her major goals -- a $400,000 contribution from the county to help the city rebuild its side of Kenmore Avenue.

"It's great to be repaved, but it also represents a joint effort," Ms. Marinelli said at a news conference in front of Kenmore Council 3076, Knights of Columbus, 1530 Kenmore Ave. "It's more than a byway for motorists. It hopefully will help economic development."

The north half of Kenmore Avenue is maintained by the county, while the south half is the city's responsibility. Due to the city's fiscal problems in recent years, the Buffalo side has developed holes and bumps.

But with the county funds, the city side is being rebuilt from Military Road to Rosemary Avenue.
