Willie L. Walker, a Buffalo cook, was sentenced Monday to 20 years to life in prison for attacking his former stepson with a butcher knife in an East Delavan Avenue diner on March 29, 1996.
Walker, 47, who contended that he was only defending himself, was sentenced by Erie County Judge Sheila A. DiTullio as a persistent felon.
Walker was convicted last December of first- and second-degree assault in the stabbing of Darin Grant at Mom's Diner at 1283 E. Delavan.
Prosecutor Brian Clinton Mahoney said Walker served a six-year prison term after his 1996 manslaughter conviction in the killing and rape of an elderly Buffalo woman. Walker also served brief prison terms for assaulting two Buffalo police officers in 1980 and for a 1983 break-in at a Goodwill Industries facility on Guilford Avenue, Mahoney said.
