The Democratic candidate for Chautauqua County clerk says the county should study the feasibility of Saturday hours at the Department of Motor Vehicle offices in Jamestown, Dunkirk and Mayville.

"It is critical to stay focused on quality services while utilizing effective technology and innovations," Jeffrey Smith said.

He suggested a feasibility study on the cost of extended hours, including contractual obligations. He noted that Saturday hours have been effective in other areas, including Erie County.

Smith is challenging Republican incumbent Sandra Sopak.
