An Oak Street man has been charged with kidnapping and sexually assaulting a 19-year-old woman Sept. 27 in Allegany County.
David B. Meyers, 54, of 5180 Oak St. is charged with second-degree kidnapping, first-degree sodomy and first-degree sexual abuse.
He was apprehended Friday by State Police Senior Investigator Thomas Gregson and Investigators James H. Knott and Dwight Healey.
He was arraigned in Town of Hume Court and was remanded to the Allegany County Jail in lieu of $35,000 bail, troopers said.
He is accused of getting out of his car and threatening the girl with a knife as she was walking alone on Centerville Road in Hume.
He allegedly forced her to walk down a remote path, where he attacked her.
The victim gave investigators a good description of her assailant, and the resulting image that investigators circulated in the Hume area was recognized by people at a nearby trailer camp who knew Meyers, police said. Meyers has a trailer in Hume, police said.
