LIFE TRANSITIONS CENTER PLANS AWARDS BANQUET

The Life Transitions Center, which is marking its 20th anniversary this year, will present awards to members of the community at a banquet Oct. 22 at the Buffalo Yacht Club.

An award for exceptional service will be presented to Dr. J. William Worden, a pioneer in the field of death and dying. Co-director of Harvard Medical School's Child Bereavement study, Worden is the author of "Grief Counseling and Grief Therapy," considered a standard reference around the world. He will be the keynote speaker at the banquet.

Others to be honored are: Dr. J. Donald Schumacher, CEO of Hospice Buffalo and one of the founders of Life Transitions Center; Donna Tronolone, a longtime volunteer and former chairman of the board of directors; Elaine Fiegel, the first coordinator of volunteers, and Paula Voell, a Buffalo News staff reporter.
